there's a target right next to the high school that my husband coaches football at. last year around this time, i was very pregnant with ava and i would drop david off at practice and walk up and down the aisles of that target, dreaming about my baby and wondering what in the world i was supposed to buy for her.
the other day ava and i walked down the aisles of that same target after we dropped david off at practice. we looked at leopard print shoes and nutella-to-go and barbies and sparkly nail polishes and ava eventually got tired of sitting in the cart and insisted on standing, all while looking back at me with a smirk, like she knew she was supposed to be sitting and was so tickled that she wasn't.
we stopped at the in-store starbucks before our shopping tour and got a passion tea lemonade. it's ava's favorite since my mom introduced it to her a few months ago and hence ruined her taste buds forever (child will not drink water now).
and then i thought back at last year and my round tummy and the wiggly baby inside and how i am glad she's here, happy and perfect and funny and sassy. my partner, my little buddy, my best friend that understands that target trips are almost as awesome as disneyland because we take turns sipping starbucks.
there's just no one i'd rather share my passion tea lemonade or walk the aisles of target with.
